The largest organ of the body.
Yes, you read that right. ORGAN.
The skin is an organ, just like the heart, lungs, and liver. The only difference?
The skin is an external organ.
So why don’t we focus on skin health like we do our internal organs?
I don’t have the answer to that, but I’m here to tell you that we definitely should!!
Just think, without skin, our insides would be outsides. 😳
Plenty enough reason for me to keep my skin healthy, and help you keep your skin healthy too!
So, first things first…
Taking care of your skin is hard work, and nothing you do will fix your skin overnight. There is no miracle cure.
Disappointed? Don’t be. There is still hope!
You know the saying “Rome wasn’t built in a day” right? Well it’s true for your skin too!
That is what our brand is all about. Finding practical (not magical) natural solutions, that will be your framework for better skin.
Set Your Skin on the Right Track
In the past, I have used myself as an experimental guinea pig, trying product after product for my skin. I researched brands, their origin, and their ingredients. I learned what type of skin I had, my husband had, and even what type of skin my neighbor had. I was obsessed!
In fact, I read so much information on skin health, that I temporarily thought I was a Dermatologist. That is until my husband reminded me it was illegal to impersonate a Doctor. (JK 😜)
After years of putting my face through hell, I began learning about toxins, chemicals, and unnecessary ingredients in face formulas, that seemed like they could actually be part of the problem, not the solution.
I bet I don’t have to tell you what happened next right?
This new revelation set me off on a journey of finding the best organic and limited ingredient formulas available for my face (and body.)
I found, if I followed a few simple steps and used all-natural products, my skin began to LOOK and FEEL like normal, healthy skin. Over the next year, I worked hard and perfected my skin care routine.
How you ask?
I followed a super simple process that I am going to share with you!
FOUR STEPS FOR BETTER SKIN
Stop Using So Many Products
Face Scrub, Wash, Mask, Moisturizer, Eye-Cream, SPF, Skin Primer, Makeup, Makeup Remover, REPEAT…
Does that sound like your morning and nightly routine? If so I bet you’re exhausted, and I bet your skin is too.
Stop playing patty-cake with your face, and find a simple yet effective skin routine.
Check out products that use all-natural ingredients and/or essential oils.
(Read my blog post “Are Essential Oils Really That Essential” here.)
Be Careful of Fake Products
We all love a deal, and a knock-off is one of the best deals around. That new MK bag looks real, smells real, and Jealous Janet can’t tell if it’s real or not… SCORE! If that’s ok, then what could a little imitation Dolce perfume hurt, or that fake Urban Decay palette that is super affordable?
But did you know your skin is absorbent?
Like paper towel absorbent, and anything we put on our skin absorbs into our bodies.
Counterfeit cosmetics have been known to contain illegal carcinogens in high concentrations.
I don’t know about you, but I sure don’t want random toxins being drawn into my nervous system.
So make sure the skin-care products you buy are from reputable retailers.
*If you have bought any product that is not directly from the manufacturer they claim to be, throw it away. Often times, these products are made in unapproved, non-regulated facilities and contain illegal ingredients.
Pay Attention To Chemicals in Big Brand Products
You are not alone in believing if it’s sold in stores it’s safe.
We, as consumers, have become too dependent on someone else telling us what is O.K to use. We fail to check the ingredients and research the effects these chemicals could have on our skin.
Have you ever read the ingredient list on the back of your face cream?
Some of those words couldn’t be pronounced by Stephen Hawking himself. How safe can that be?
Your number one goal should be to find labels with limited-ingredients that you can easily research.
Remember, you are in charge of your skin’s safety!
Moisturize Your Skin
Let me guess. You have oily skin?
No way would adding more oil help that situation right?
Your skin is supposed to have moisture, and that moisture comes from oil!
Natural oils can do wonders for your skin when used correctly.
Adding beneficial, healthy oils to your skin can can even get rid of the bad oil that causes acne!
In fact, the more you use products that dry your skin, the more oil it produces from the inside.
This causes blocked pores and breakouts. 😕
The best thing you can do for any skin type is to moisturize your face with good oil!
